Sustainability Policy

Our Commitment

At Tres Vins Imports, sustainability is not a marketing claim — it is the foundation of every sourcing decision we make. We import low-intervention and organic wines from Argentina to Denmark, and we believe that how wine is made matters as much as how it tastes.

This policy outlines the principles that guide our work and the standards we expect from the producers we partner with.

1. The Wines We Choose

1.1 Organic and low-intervention viticulture

We exclusively work with producers who:

  • Farm without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides
  • Prioritise soil health through composting, cover crops, and biodiversity
  • Hold certified organic status or are in active transition towards certification
  • Work with native or minimal yeast in the cellar
  • Use little to no added sulphites, or significantly below conventional thresholds
  • Avoid fining agents of animal origin where possible

1.2 Transparency

We ask our producers to be transparent about their practices. Where a producer does not hold formal certification — often due to the prohibitive cost for small estates — we visit, ask questions, and share what we learn with our customers.

2. Importing Responsibly

2.1 Consolidation and sea freight

All our wines are shipped by sea, not air freight. Sea freight produces significantly lower CO emissions per bottle. We consolidate shipments to minimise the number of containers in transit and to reduce the carbon intensity of each bottle that arrives in Denmark.

2.2 Packaging

We favour producers who use:

  • Lighter-weight glass bottles, which reduce both material use and transport emissions
  • Recycled or FSC-certified cardboard for case packaging
  • Minimal plastic or synthetic closures

When we ship to our customers within Denmark, we use recycled cardboard and avoid single-use plastics in our own packaging.

3. Supporting Small Producers

The vast majority of the producers we work with are small, family-run estates. Sustainable agriculture is labour-intensive and economically fragile. We are committed to:

  • Paying fair prices that reflect the true cost of organic and low-intervention farming
  • Building long-term relationships rather than opportunistic, transaction-by-transaction purchasing
  • Paying invoices on time to support the financial stability of our partners

4. Our Own Operations

As an importer, our direct environmental footprint is relatively small. Nevertheless, we aim to:

  • Operate a paperless office wherever possible
  • Use digital communications in preference to printed materials
  • Choose local and low-emission delivery options within Denmark
  • Offset residual emissions from our logistics through verified carbon offset programmes

5. Continuous Improvement

We recognise that sustainability is a direction, not a destination. We commit to:

  • Reviewing this policy annually
  • Seeking to improve our sourcing standards over time
  • Being honest with our customers when we fall short of our own goals
  • Listening to feedback from producers, customers, and partners

6. Certifications We Recognise

We give preference to producers holding one or more of the following certifications, though we also work with uncertified producers whose practices meet equivalent standards:

  • Certified Organic (SENASA — Argentina’s national organic authority)
  • USDA Organic / EU Organic equivalents
  • Demeter (biodynamic)
  • Bodegas de Argentina Sustainability Protocol
